Who we are

De Waal Electrical, Solar & Plumbing, an electrical, solar and plumbing contractor based in Bloemfontein and working across the wider Free State, South Africa.

What this website collects

Nothing, by itself. Browsing these pages does not create an account, a profile, or a record with us. Specifically, this site:

• sets no cookies;
• runs no analytics — there is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, and no visitor tracking of any kind;
• stores nothing in your browser's local storage;
• loads no third-party content. The typeface and every photograph are served from this site's own domain, so no outside company is told that you visited.

Because of this, there is no cookie banner: there are no cookies to consent to.

The quote form

The quote form does not send anything to a server of ours, and nothing you type is stored on this website. When you press Send on WhatsApp, the form simply opens WhatsApp with a message already written out, addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you press send inside WhatsApp. The Send by email option does the same with your own email app.

This means you can change your mind at any point before sending, and if you close the page instead, we never receive anything.

What we receive when you contact us

When you do choose to contact us, we receive what you send — typically your name, your suburb or town, a phone number or email address, and a description of the job. If we come out to quote, we will also know your address and what is on the property relevant to the work.

We use this to reply, quote, do the work, issue any certificate the work requires, and follow up on that job. Where a Certificate of Compliance is issued, we keep the record of the work as the certificate requires.

Who else is involved

• Our website host. This site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, their servers automatically log requests, which includes your IP address, the time, and which page you asked for. This is normal server operation and is used to serve the site and keep it secure. We do not use those logs to identify or profile visitors.
• WhatsApp. If you message us on WhatsApp, that conversation happens on WhatsApp's platform and is governed by their privacy terms, not ours. We only see the messages you send us.
• Email. Our email address is a Gmail address, so email you send us is stored in Google's mail service.
• Phone. Calls and SMS go through your mobile network and ours in the ordinary way.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes.
• We do not add you to a mailing list because you enquired.
• We do not build a profile of you or track you across other websites.

We will share information only where it is genuinely needed to do your job — for example a supplier delivering material to your address — or where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and job records for as long as we need them for the job, for any warranty or compliance obligation attached to the work, and for the period our tax and business records must be kept. If you enquired and never became a customer, ask us and we will delete what we have.

Your rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
• stop using your information for a particular purpose.

Ask on 082 573 8465 or dewaal.jaco@gmail.com and we will deal with it. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Children

This site is aimed at property owners arranging work. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
